This restaurant is definitely worth checking out, especially if you're a fan of happy hour oysters! I thoroughly enjoyed them – a real treat. For my main course, I opted for the jambalaya, and it was absolutely perfect. The level of spice was just right for my taste, offering a pleasant warmth without being overwhelming. It was clear that the dish was well-prepared and flavorful.

My boyfriend took my sister and I here right after Christmas and it did not disappoint. We sat upstairs and it was such a vibe! There's a huge flat screen where he watched the football game while my sister and I indulged in our drinks lol. I would definitely be back. Waitresses were friendly, drinks and food came quickly even though they got pretty busy. Great deco, vines, food and drinks

Nearly perfect! The food phenomenal! The drinks are way above average. The service is a bit slow. The rooftop is so cute and great views! Perfect highly recommend the lobster pasta, the beet salad (best ever), the bang bang shrimp. The smoked old fashion and the vodka cocktail that has Leche bubbles in it!!! Yum! Just so perfect!

Wow! Shout-out to the team for working on Thanksgiving!! Service was as top notch!! Huge thank you to Chelsea for holding down the rooftop! She was incredibly diligent tending to the tables. Very kind, calm and very on top of the tables. We had some amazing customer service from check in to completing our meal, we can't say enough great things for enjoying our thanksgiving dinner here! My friend & I wanted to drive to SD after a morning function I attended as a speaker, so after doing some quick research, we called and made reservations the day of 4/12. We arrived earlier at SD, so we called if we could go earlier, and they said yes. Once we parked, we walked to the restaurant. I really liked the entrance to the rooftop and the vibe. We sat at the bar to have a drink, and the bartenders were very nice. Then we sat at our table and ordered burgers and our own individual Truffle Fries. Since the weather was pleasant, we decided to stay a little longer for the dinner menu and then ordered the Firecracker Mango Shrimp. This was my first time having this, and I did enjoy three. The Mango Sauce had the right kick to complement the shrimp wrapped in that crispyness. We shared laughs, and the server was not overbearing and checked in enough times that made our experience great. I also enjoyed a Lavender Lemonade.. Thank you to those who were working that shift, the service was good..

Came here for dinner for a party of two and we were able to snag a table on the terrace without a reservation (it was still early in the evening). The terrace was nice and decked out for Christmas and they provided heat lamps. There were lots of open seats downstairs. We unfortunately just missed happy hour by a couple of minutes. I could see this place being busy during peak times so I’d suggest making a reservation. Parking/Service: It’s in downtown, so expect to look around for parking for a while. Better yet, just uber there. Our server was attentive and our food and drinks came out quickly. There was a private event happening on the outer part of the rooftop but we still received great service. Food/Drinks: For drinks, I liked A Lover’s Flannel (16) which had the egg white on top and my husband liked the Rustic Route (15). -Lobster Pappardelle (36): this was surprisingly very tasty. The pasta was made fresh and had the perfect texture. I say surprising because you usually can’t expect much ordering pasta from a non-Italian place, but this one was very good. -Bacon Mac N Cheese (14) -Cast Iron Cornbread (9): really liked the jalapeno butter Overall: It was a fun, festive place for dinner and food was overall good. I’d like to come back during happy hour next time!

Loved the food, service and ambiance here. We had visited for dinner over a weekend, so naturally, it was rush hour, but we opted for inside seating so didn't have to wait at all. Our server was friendly and helpful with our order. We enjoyed their Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Firecracker Shrimp alongside cokctails and ended with Lobster Pappardelle for the main course. Everything was lip-smacking good! Highly recommend trying out this place if you're around the area.

Rustic Root never disappoints, but my recent visit was truly exceptional, thanks to Blake behind the bar. From the moment I sat down, his service was top-notch—attentive, knowledgeable, and incredibly personable. He crafted some of the best cocktails I’ve had in San Diego, perfectly balancing flavors with precision. Beyond the drinks, Blake’s friendly energy and genuine passion for mixology made the experience even more memorable. If you're looking for a great night out with expertly made drinks and outstanding service, make sure to grab a seat at the bar with Blake. Highly recommend!
